Performing credits
Stuart Christie graduated from the National Institute of Circus Arts late 2004 with a Bachelor of Circus Arts and has since been with companies such as Kage Theatre for the World Expo 2005 in Japan for 7 months and in their new work Sundowner 2011/12. Circus Oz 2006-08 as a full time performer, Strut’&’Fret Productions in 2008/09 & 2011. Dislocate in South Korea 2011 and Most recently in the Sydney Opera House touring production of The MadHatters Tea Party in Melbourne and Canberra june/july 2017. Currently Stuart is engaged in developing a new show with SOH, “Captain Hooks Pirate Party” due to open in January 2018.
Stuart also performed as a freelance artist in the Melbourne cabaret scene and has also produced the cabaret nights “A little bit of Shhh” 2012/13/14 & “Out of the Box” 2015/16 in Melbourne, Albury/Wodonga, and “The Katoomba ¡Ah-Ha!” Katoomba 2017.
October 2009 Stuart premiered his first independent full-length show with fellow performer Kane Pertersen in “Dos or Duo” which was nominated for best Circus show in both the Melbourne Fringe Festival 09, and Adelaide Fringe 2010. In 2012 Dos or Duo were nominated for the Innovation and Excellence in Circus Green Room award for their second show Dos or Duo “Deux”.
Teaching credits
Between contracts and performance Stuart has engaged in teaching circus to both professionals and community from 2003 to the pesent. Ranging from the performance troupe of the Flying Fruit Fly Circus Albury 20010-2016 to community workshops with all ability participants with Little Devil Circus south east Melbourne to older age participants from the Fruit Bats Albury, and disengaged youth with Circus Oz.
Whilst living in Melbourne Stuart was one of the main trainers for a 3 term project in Cardinia, one of the outer suburbs in Melbourne working with disengaged youth to create a student lead creation call “Shadows on the Footpath” directed by Luke O’Connor and performed in the Cardinia Theatre on the 21st november 2008.
Currently Stuart Christie teaches at Aerialize Aerial Theatre in Canterbury and has started Bah-Hah up in Blackheath the Blue Mountains.
